Determining the safest places on Earth during nuclear wars

In the event of a nuclear war, I have known for years what part of the world I would try to reach with my family. Just as you try to protect your family from the house fire you hope never happens, by holding practice drills, when you decide to survive a nuclear holocaust you must use some common sense gather some knowledge.

I should say at the outset, as one who believes we have a Creator, I am more concerned about the eternal survival of my family than by our earthly survival. At the same time, I believe that my Creator has endowed me with the wisdom and the capacity to be part of a "remnant" that avoids the extinction of the human race.

Do you really want to survive a nuclear war? If you live through the initial explosions, the whole earth will be covered by a radioactive cloud that blocks the sunlight. Scientists believe something similar happened to cause the extinction of the dinosaurs-earthquakes caused clouds to block the sun, freeze the earth, and kill all plant and animal life. If this is true and we add radioactivity to the mix, what chance would any human have to survive a nuclear winter?

Still, human nature being what it is, we would all try to survive, wouldn't we? There is that drive to ensure the survival of the species, the same drive that exists in all creatures, all creation.

I would certainly not choose to live in the mountains, and not just because I don't like cold weather. If you live below the tree line, where there is food, you will be near the radioactive cloud that will envelop the earth after nuclear holocaust. Your food and water will surely be contaminated. If you live above the nuclear cloud, you will also be above the tree line, where there is little or no food. But hey, you are certainly welcome to live in the mountains if you wish. I'll say bye-bye and good luck now.

Am I going to tell you where I would go? Certainly not. You may agree with me, and then it would be too crowded. Even though I have reached the age of retirement, I want my family and a few friends to survive. When we arrived at our destination I would hope to find there a few kindred spirits who were wise enough to choose the same safe zone and resourceful enough to reach it. More important, we who survive will have decided to act at the right time. If we act too soon we will give up everything to find that nuclear war is avoided. Too late and we will be walking dead, already too radioactive to accomplish a survival society. If I don't act at precisely the right time,
