Best ways to minimize stress

We all experience stress at one point or another in life. It could be health-related problems, or financial problems. We all have our unique problems as well. Stress is known to take years off our lives, but we do not have to allow it to happen. Here are some things I do to reduce stress, so I know they could work for you as well.

Make a list of things that you are worrying about. It may seem like it could make things worse, but it does not. You have all the things you have to do right in front of you, so now you must prioritize. Focus on things you could change right away, not on things you cannot control at all. For example, if you are behind on bills, pay the bills that are due sooner. Eventually, you could save up to pay the rest.

Talk to your friends. It is a great thing to come home from work and just get the day's issues off your chest. Calling your friends and talking for a long time has been known to reduce stress levels. You could get their perspectives on things that are bothering you, and you may end up with a solution to a problem. Also, laughing does not hurt either. I live my life laughing.

Watch some great television or a great movie. As I say, laughter is a great remedy for stress. Every single time I laugh when I have stress, I literally feel the stress melt away from my shoulders. I still am worried, but it does not have a physical hold over me now. So, I am able to think about my problems with a clearer mind.

Get enough sleep. I am a firm believer in the idea of your best ideas or solutions coming to you when you are sleeping. This is because your mind is relaxed. I have had problem-solving dreams, and it has worked for me in my waking life as well. I always feel more stressed out when I do not sleep well.

Stay outside on a nice night. With it being summertime, it gives you something to do instead of sitting inside your house worrying. I like the slow wind when it gets dark out. There is something that is so calming about it. It is great to be alone with your thoughts.

Pet your animals. I have six cats, and one dog. I love to stroke them, and I know it relaxes them as much as it relaxes me, so we all win. It also makes me relaxed when they sleep next to me. That warm body lying next to you is relaxing, and it is just as good as any friend or partner lying next to you.

Breathe. Take some deep breaths. We all have busy lives, and so many of us forget to slow down for a minute. Breathing makes oxygen go to your brain, and this makes your mind clear. Breathing also slows down your heart rate.

You are on your way to a stress-free life now.
