Poetry: Purpose

Empty Bottle

A substance once filled me that has long since gone
It gave me a purpose and now I have none

I cry every night for the thing that I've lost
and wonder why I paid such a high cost

You see, I've begged and asked plenty of no person seen
yet I've received what was asked without selling my spleen

Now that my dreams are my past
How much longer does the dreariness last?

For I am bored and free floating
My purpose at end
I must ask this to no one in particular,
Please fill me again.
