As an English major in college I'm always looking for a new place to write. Who would have thought I'd have found that in a restaurant? TGI Friday's is an American food, family restaurant with friendly staff (at all the ones I've been to), who are willing to give their opinions about the food and make recommendations so it is easier for you to choose what to eat if it is your first time there.
All along their walls they have collectible items from movies, famous singers, and memorabilia from different events and time periods. In a way it's like walking into a small, colorful, and loud museum of random artifacts. However, that does bring up my one complaint about TGI Friday's. It's loud. If you don't like classic rock, rap, or alternative music then don't go there. They play it loud, and when the music gets drowned out by talking it seems like they turn it up a notch. While this can seem very annoying at first, it is easy to get used to and more often then not, they will turn it down if you ask.
Aside from the music I have no other major complaints. It's part sports bar and part family restaurant. They have TVs throughout, but the volume is always off. It is a very clean environment, safe to bring kids, and a fun place to hang out with friends or colleagues. The food is a little pricey, but I always find that it's worth it. As compared to other restaurants with their same food choices TGI Friday's is very reasonable. Their portions are decent and the food is great.
If you like to sit at a bar then TGI Friday's is also the place to go. The bartender's are nice and willing to chat if you are. They perform tricks as they fill out drink orders and some of the more experienced ones will surprise you with just how much talent they have. The quality of the customer service depends on you. If you go in for a good time and show it, you'll get one. If you enter the TGI Friday's in a bad mood, chances are you're not going to experience the same amount of fun I do when I go.
Just like most restaurants I've been to, TGI Friday's waiters will become your friends if they start seeing you once a week or often enough to remember your name. There are four or five waiters who know me by name at the one I go to and as soon as I sit down I have my drink and they're chatting away with me about how their week has been.
This is a friendly environment and a great place to hang out with family and friends. Have fun!
