Now that all the hype regarding the death Michael Jackson has passed it's time for a sincere evaluation of his legacy free of hype and emotion.
There can be no doubt that Jackson was a superstar. We all know the story of the child star who became a smash as an adult in the early 1980's. After the album "Thriller" Mr. Jackson failed to achieve anything close to the sales of that album. Why? Quite simply because Michael Jackson has used up all the greatness he had in one record.
The only time Michael had made headlines in the past 15 or so years was for his offbeat behavior. It's funny how his so-called fans allowed him to reduce himself to tabloid fodder. There were no big album sales just huge sales of the tabloid newspapers that had his picture on the cover.
Jackson will be remembered as an innovator. The video industry would not be the same without him. His "Thriller" album unleashed an awesome video upon an unsuspecting public. But Jackson will be remembered for much more than just his video innovation and his dance moves.
One of the things Michael Jackson will be remembered for will be his hatred of his own looks. We know this because of his continued facial surgeries that turned him from a black child to a white adult with all the features to match.
There are so many other things that Jackson will be remembered for and none of them positive. It was claimed he owned a monkey. He had his own zoo and playland; Neverland -at least until it went bankrupt and he could no longer afford to keep his zoo in place. Apparently, Jackson slept in an oxygen tent and well he just kept getting stranger and stranger.
Finally Jackson will be remembered as a pedophile. Now, we all know that he was indeed acquitted of the charges in one trial but the possibility exists that he was exonerated was simply because he was Michael Jackson. There are different laws for celebrities than for ordinary folk.
Then of course he settled 2 separate charges out of court. Certainly, there is no evidence to show he was guilty of anything but it makes one wonder. Why on earth would anyone settle charges like this out of court? Most assuredly one would want to clear his name in a court of law, well most people would but not Michael Jackson.
One has to wonder why Michael Jackson was charged and taken to court for being a pedophile. There are billions of men and women over thousands of years that have never been charged with such vile crimes. So why Michael Jackson? Could it be there is an element of truth somewhere in those charges?
Look at the men in your life and chances are there is no one who you would ever dream of as being a pedophile. This will be the greatest legacy of Michael Jackson.
