For most of my life, I've had weak nails and always wanted to grow strong, long and healthy nails. No matter what I did they would break and tear. Then I started to do some weekly treatments, and week by week they would become stronger. It's just a matter of stopping old habits, a weekly manicure, and use of good nail and hand products. Doing all of this will give you strong and healthy nails in no time!
First off, habits like nail biting will surely damage nails. Chronic nail biting is the worst thing for nails. So every time you go to bite your nails think "don't". If cold turkey doesn't work, there are nail polishes out there specially made to help end nail biting habits. They have a nasty taste to them. To find these special products, google "how to stop biting nails". This is a crucial step in the process of trying to grow long and strong fingernails.
Other things that damage nails include, doing the dishes a lot, living in a dry environment, and too much hand washing. This is because the nails dry out and cause them to break.
A big part in strengthening nails is using the right products. Before going shopping, look on-line for reviews and see which ones work best for the owners of that product. It would not be good to buy a bad product, and learn the hard way. The products needed would be a cuticle pusher, nail defense polish, and maybe even polish that prevents nail biting. Getting a polish that helps nails grow may also help. Mani-pedi kits are a great way to do a little more with your nails, and you can have fun with it!
Weekly manicures will help maintain nails, and keep them strong. Start by removing any polish already on your fingernails. Then take a bowl of lukewarm water and hold fingertips in the bowl for about a minute. This softens the cuticles. Now, push back the cuticles with either a tool specially made for that job, if without a tool, just use your fingers. It's time to apply a coat or two of Nail Defense nail polish to help strengthen nails. Then add an extra dash of color with a coat of nail polish!
