Anyone who plays an instrument knows how difficult it is to find sheet music to a particular song. They also know how expensive sheet music can be. We know it is possible to get free music, tabs, and lyrics online but no one seems to know a good place for free sheet music. However, I have taken the time to hunt for the best sites that have all different varieties of sheet music.
1. www.8notes.com - 8 Notes
This is a very simple website to figure out. It contains a nice amount of sheet music for a variety of instruments. The downloads are available in .gif image. Although if you subscribe to the website for free you can choose to download them in .PDF. This site contains a lot of classy music. It has over 9,000 free peices. This is one of my favorite websites for free sheet music.
2. http://www.dlib.indiana.edu/variations/scores/ - Variations Prototype: Online Musical Scores
This website contains a variety of sheet music from the William and Gayle Cook Music Library at Indiana University. It contains music from popular classical composers. This is a very simple website to use. However, it is not my favor. I recommend giving it a try.
3. www.free-scores.com - Free Scores
Free-Scores.com has tons and tons of free sheet music. It is so simple to use. You can browse by letter, instrument, or style of music. However, unlike the other websites, it contains a very handy search engine so you can quickly find the music you are looking for. A big variety. The downloads are in .PDF format. This is at the top of the list of my favorite free sheet music websites.
4. www.abcmusic.net - ABC Music
What is unique about this site is that it allows users to upload sheet music they already own to share with others. That means that they are constantly adding new music. They even keep you up to date on the home page with sheet music that has been recently added and the most popular downloads. Another nice thing about this site is that it contains more modern songs than the other websites. Simply click download when you have made your choice.
5. http://www.rudolphsmusic.com - Rudolph's Music
Last but not least is Rudolph's Music, another website with free sheet music by classical composers. This is a very easy to use website and an easy download. Each sheet is available in a variety of different instruments.
My brother and I have personally used all of these sites to download sheet music and we definitely feel that these sites are the best there is for free music.
