Poetry: Fallen leaves

Nude Autumn

Sometimes the trees throw down
their leafy trouser suits.
And strewn about the ground:
autumnal coats adorning roots.

Don't the willows shiver,
with no hats to block the cold?
Or crave scarves in winter,
with all their bones exposed?

The rustling fabric all cast off;
Mothers, raise your voices please!
We can't have the children gawk
at colonies of naked trees!
