Ready? Set. Start your engines! TLC's "Overhaulin'" is pulling into a living room near you.
I may drive a 1986 Pontiac, but I dream of owning a 1966 Chevy Maibu. So do viewers of TLC's classic-to-Hot-Rod show, "Overhaulin'," where viewers 'Ooh' and 'Aah' when a surprise guest gets his or her dream car overhauled into an antique or classic hotrods that will make any owner shiver with nostalgia and beauty.
After watching a few episodes and inconsequentially female, I can't say that I can really describe the technicalities of configuing a motor, assembling parts or connecting wires, but I can describe the amazing detail and technique the mechanics of the show put into the cosmetics of the car.
When the surprise guest, whoever he may be (I haven't seen a woman get overhauled yet), leaves his car, it is usually an unrecognizable piece of car-no paint, no interior, sometimes no engine! Body repairs aren't even the beginning to the complete overhaul sometimes. Interior seats are likely included in the complete fender-to-bumper makeover, when you're talking about TLC's "Overhaulin'," along with a fully customized dash, stero system and hydraulic work (if you're lucky)that lucky viewers (who happen to own post '70s pieces of machine)have received after being chosen for the show. I didn't foget to mention the paint job, which is far better than anything "Pimp My Ride" has ever done!
Automobile designer Chip Foose, Inductee to the Hot Rod Hall of Fame, is the "head" behind the mechanics that go into turning a skeleton car into a living, breathing automobile. But trouble may be a brewing for the folks at "Overhaulin'."
According to the website on February 5, 2007, there is a specific link for Help Wanted, which makes me wonder if the show is going to last. As for previous, future and prospective guests on the show, good luck and happy driving!
