She flies
For Betty Ann Berry
Like a kite she flies
Spiraling up toward roiling ominous clouds
Singular and sparkling against the dark
Her face turned heavenward glowing
Her arms outstretched robes flowing
Ever further she grows smaller in our view
We have played out our string until it is gone
But she needs it no more
She is free
Further still
A glistening point against the dark
A bright twinkling star
The clouds sliced open by shafts of light
They close and she is gone from our sight
She waits, now, with all who have gone before
She awaits our taking homeward flight

and took off to another place to work.
His handshake, always firm, was my last touch,
