So as I was planting my vegetable garden today it really hit me how much gardening reflects life. Think about it.
We are the gardeners and the plants are our dreams, our ambitions, our loved ones and the life which we are trying to create. They are the things we want to nurture... the things we hold dear to our hearts and we protect with all that we have.
There are other things that grow within our garden, we call them weeds. They distract us because when they grow they look appealing and mask themselves as having possibilities. But in the end they are not what we need in our lives and it is best to take the time to get rid of them so that our garden is not cluttered with destructiveness and falsehoods. These show up in our lives through our fleeting passions. These are the quick fixes and easy outs we all take because we don't love ourselves enough to work hard for the true dreams and ambitions we have, for the real love we deserve. Instead we don't strive for greatness, we accept whatever hand fate deals us and feel we deserve no better. We stay with the guy/girl that just pays attention when we feel lonely or is willing to give us what we want, or the abundance of acquaintances rather than true friends (because it is easier not to risk the hurt that you might feel because it is real). Weeds are easier to manage than the plants of our dreams, but they wither and die, and are never as good as the real thing.
Then you have the weather...these are life's little unpredictability's that find us, change us, and can make us or break us. Sometimes things come about as an act of karma, or because we are unprepared... so even the unpredictable things in life are sometimes brought on by, or not protected, because of our own actions.
We feed our garden with water and vitamins, allowing it to grow and become strong. This reflects everything we do in life that brings us strength (education, work, etc.)
No garden is without the inhabitants within the soil. We have our earthworms, which are the friends that help us grow and keep us strong. Then there are the grubs, that if you don't cast out will damage and even destroy what you are trying to create. Sometimes you mistake them for worms, but eventually you will learn what they truly are.
So... tend to your garden well, or else the weather, weeds, grubs and the lack of nourishment will destroy everything you work to create.
Wishing you the garden of your dreams.
