In 2008, Sarah Palin jumped front and center onto the major national political scene, in a big way, as John McCain’s vice-presidential candidate. Interestingly, she is still making headlines. It seems that either people lover her, or they love to hate her. Will Palin run for the highest office in the land, or will she just be run out of town? This article will contemplate if Sarah Palin has a second chance at the Presidency, in 2012.
Known as quite the lighting rod, her electricity has both sides of the political spectrum buzzing. From the early morning shows, to the late night talk shows and lots of stuff in between, there is no doubt, Sarah Palin has arrived and wants to be heard.
Palin is an accomplished leader, an exceptional communicator, and ostensibly, one of the people. She is fit, dedicated and loyal to her family, state, and country. As Governor of Alaska, she enjoyed the highest approval rating of any current U. S. Governor, and her constituents approval ratings proves it! She is an undoubtedly a credible contender for President of the United States.
Nonetheless, from the start Palin has been relentlessly ridiculed, attacked, and unfairly scrutinized by many of the opposition, most of which try to demean Palin with nothing more than mean spirited personal attacks. She definitely has a virtual target on her, and the attacks are consistently cruel in nature.
Despite the fact that Palin has more executive experience, was a business owner, and served in public office for decades longer that the current President Barack Obama, the media attacks remain relentless, and somewhat baffling.
Ironically even David Letterman, who has no room to criticize anyone, and who also has an unhealthy obsession with Palin, stooped to a new low as to callously liken the Governor of the State of Alaska to a “slutty flight attendant.” If that wasn’t enough, he then irresponsibly referred to Palins young daughter in a tasteless, despicable comment!
One can only wonder how those sorts of insults would fly if Letterman, or anyone in the media for that matter, made those remarks about the Michelle Obama, or the Obama children. Seems there is a lot of double standard going on. Since when is it ok to viciously attack a candidates children?
You can argue indisputable facts, that describe Sarah Palins qualifications, and the Palin haters laugh, diminish her, talk about the size of Alaska, make fun of her accent, or focus on untruths, or inconsequential minutia. Constantly undermining her accomplishments, somehow, they are never willing to admit that a governor is more qualified to run a country than say, a community organizer!
Unfair attacks like these always happen for a reason, and the reason here is fear! Her opponents will ridicule, ostracize, diminish, and demean, attack, and accuse, but at the end of the day, Palin remains calm, a good sport, and stays on issue. What disturbs and perplexes media , and the elitists, who think they know all what is best for all, is that for all their high school taunting, Palin remains unflappable and hugely popular with the people.
If Sarah Palin does decide to run for President in 2012, it will be despite all of these remarkable and unprecedented attacks. The attacks are brutal, relentless, and utterly disgraceful! It somehow seems that many out there afraid of Palin, very afraid!
