We live in a age where computers are often the first thing teens and young adults turn on in the morning. I know being a young adult myself, the first thing I do in the morning is get up, get on my PC, check my email and log on to Facebook and Myspace. It's like second nature. There are so many technology advances every single day that gets us to the web faster from anywhere in the entire world. If democracy dismissed that action, they would be losing a large amount of their support.
Everyday millions of people sign on to blogging outlooks like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter. It has become a major way of communication. There has been many times I have heard about things, such as Billy May's death, through my friends on Myspace. I think Obama took a bold step in embracing the use of technology to both gain voters and reach a more broad generation.
Facing the fact that the average young adult is not reading books, watching TV, or even reading the newspaper as much as they use too. All of which can be found on the internet. And with thousands of sites being formed everyday with new and better ways to communicate with each other, demagogy has no choice but to keep up.
Besides the blog, there is one more thing that keeps us glued to the internet. The fact that now we can even watch TV while sitting at our computers. Newly formed website Hulu has given a major boost in internet TV watchers. It has gone beyond the point of Youtube which tends to limit what you can actually see.
With sites like Hulu and Joust, it has become so easy to get on the computer and watch our favorite network shows, movies and news casts. And with sites like Justin TV, it comes streaming live, so we can watch it anywhere as if we were turning on the television right in our own home. With the sudden explosion of even leading networks like ABC News, Fox News, CNN, letting us go right from the television to the computer for more information, more updates, more video feeds.
So you ask now, well what about talk radio? Radio is still popular right? Well there is a yes and no to that answer. Yes, radio is still popular, its hard to find someone in a car that doesn't have their radio on. But with the new advances of the Ipod and the Iphone, you can even take that with you anywhere. Or even listen to that in your car instead of listening to the radio. But the cool thing about it is, most mp3 players now come with built in AM or FM radios.
With the Iphone and other various cell phones, the internet is right at your fingertips all day long. Democracy is always saying that we are not as technologically advanced as countries like China. So you have to ask yourself, with democracy not embracing the internet, then how could we ever be more advanced then them.
