Can man ever be God? Now that`s a VERY scary thought! Imagine how messed up the world would be if anyone of us could become "God for a day" or "God forever". I'll be the first to admit that as God or even a minor deity (if you believe in a pantheon of gods & goddesses), i`d definately botch up the whole world a lot worse than it is now or ever has been. That`s saying a lot because we indeed live in a messed up world (usually I use more colorful language on the situation, but this is Helium after all and I don`t wish to be censored).
Worse yet, imagine someone ELSE becoming God, someone you always argue with about everything. Then THEY will make your life a living hell!
But seriously, the God we have (as Christians) now has more than his hands full with a messed up world like the one we have. For the most part I'd say we've (the human race) have managed quite well to mess things up royally without godly powers as it is. The really amazing thing is that we keep on coming up with new ways of making things worse and worse until the Second Coming. Bill Maher said it best when he said "what scares me is that fundamentalist groups of many religions, not just christianity, are trying to figure out how to destroy the world while waiting for the end time prophecy to fullfill itself" (self fulfilling prophecy). In other words, we don`t need God to destroy the world, we`re doing pretty well in that respect on our own.
Then there`s the question of "HOW?".... How indeed. What method would one follow of BECOMING God? Would it be by ceaseless prayer or simply by being a devoute Mormon (this is one of the main tenets of their faith, that one can become a god if one is good enough and has enough wives & children). Perhaps by certain types of prayers that God has yet to reveal to us, or perhaps there`s another "forbidden fruit in the Garden"... Perhaps there`s a fruit in the Garden that`s more powerful than the one that taught us "Right from wrong"....
Can man ever be God? Who comes up with these questions? Then again, I'm not surprised given our human nature to want to understand everything and be our own boss in charge. That was the whole problem with Adam & Eve; wanting to "be like God". The sad thing is that we still haven`t learned even millenia after the writing of the Scriptures.
Besides, who would want to be God and have to hear all those people whining about EVERYTHING! Seriously, most of us do nothing but whine & complain, not to mention worry, about everything. I'd just get so fed up with the whole thing, you know? Being God, that`s a job He can have cause I don`t want it.
