The thing about him, is that he has no idea just how much of an impact he has on others or of on me.
He stands tall, not just, in posture and pride but in height. He is 6'2". A giant of a man in stature not, in overall appearance.
He doesn't dress in a three piece suit nor a dirk and kilt. He dresses to please no one but himself. Not "out" to prove anything, he doesn't need to.
One can feel emotion rolling off his words as he talks. Be it, that he speaks with love, sadness or anger.
Whether, he's teasing or being intimate. He does it with finesse, warmth and love.
The language that emulates from within his being cannot be compared. Don't try. There is no succeeding.
His back though slightly marked from years of abuse by way of horses and cattle roughing him up is ever so strong. There's pride in his stance and in his walk.
Look at his hands, at the callouses. One can not imagine the gentle and caring touch they give to a new born foal or a soft and loving caress to his woman's face.
His eyes have seen love and trepidation through a few decades. They bare the scars of years gone by, of sorrow and remorse yet they are alive and dance with fire and mischief.
His arms are part of him too. They are capable of holding back a raging man who is desperate to maim someone or gently carry a tender shoot of a tree about to be planted.
He reads from the good book nearly every day not caring that he's re-read the same verses throughout the years.
He has a deep and caring soul. The good Lord sees to that.
Here is a man that loves this earth. To see him stand out in a rain storm and smile as raindrops kiss his face, gives others a deeper appreciation of being alive, of being able to be themselves and not be afraid of what society thinks.
He is not influenced by his peers, nor are they of him.
To look at this man, to see what he sees in every day living, to feel and breathe as he does gives one a different outlook on life.
The overwhelming desire to touch his chest... to feel the heart that beats inside. To know the intensity of his love, his passion, his zeal for life.
I ponder, at times. Does he know the effect he has on others, how he has, by his lonesome, changed a life or two.
How one or possibly more have given thanks to the Lord above for his being in their lives?
He doesn't take, he only gives.
Here stands the" true American."
