Poetry: After the pain

by Gerry Legister

Created on: July 07, 2009

A quiet serene astounded within

Wakes the conscious memory

Stumbling out of control to begin

Analyzed hours lost in puzzled imagery

Gasping at hope to restore the spirit

A decision taken back in vague reality

After the pain comes incredible relief

Support framework healing the body

Beauty and pain the choice was mine

Perceiving corrective surgery

Embraced the esteemed mind

Inclination I felt to perused this mystery

The arch pain that once blurred my vision

Has gone leaving the pampered body

And I have gained confidence to go on

Living with new joy

After the pain departed from abated pride

Seeing the sunshine on my smile

Developing a sense of trust inside

Silent emotions reassured my style

After the pain and the will to know

There is rest from the lesser dark

Stepping in the light measured and slow

To the place where pain ends on the sidewalk

After the pain and advantages gain

By those sprawled on tormented shore

Grains of golden confidence will begin

To fall amidst the hungry roar
