If You're on the Go, These Low-fat Snacks Are for You!

Working eight days per week (so it seems) and raising kids, keeping up a household, associating with friends and still trying to find some time for yourself too can take its toll on your diet. I know it has with mine at times! It's easy to just grab whatever fried or greasy snacks you can find and shovel the food in while on the run.

If you're wanting to lose weight, maintain weight or just eat healthier and better and have more energy as well as looking and feeling better, you're best bet is going to be to eat regular small meals and have a few healthy, low-fat snacks throughout your day. Healthy low-fat snacks help keep your blood sugar steady, reduce cravings, and keep you full.

Let's look at ten options for healthy low-fat snacks for people on the go:

#10 - Granola or Nutrition Bars - Granola or nutrition bars are chock full of vitamins and good healthy grains and dried fruits and make a great low-fat snack for people on the go.

#9 - Yogurt or Yogurt Drinks/Smoothies - If you're not in a big rush, a low-fat or fat-free yogurt is very good for your health. If you're a bit more on the go, a yogurt drink or yogurt smoothie is a great low-fat snack for people on the go.

#8 - Carrot & Celery Sticks w/Dressing - The night before, grab some baby carrots and some celery sticks and toss them into a sandwich bag. A cup of low-fat ranch dressing tossed into the bag and you're good to go with a low-fat, healthy snack the next day.

#7 - Nuts - While nuts are a little bit higher in fat than the other snacks listed here, it's a healthy fat, and they are packed with protein for a quick pick-me-up snack on the go that's better than sugar and caffeine! Just limit your portion to about 3-6 ounces at the most per serving, and you have a great healthy snack on the go.

#6 - Hard Boiled Eggs - If you make them the night before while you're cooking dinner, hard boiled eggs, either in the shell or peeled, can be put in a bag and eaten for a quick protein snack for mid-morning that's lower in fat then chips and better for you!

#5 - Cereal - I love to eat cereal for a snack, and there are a lot of low-fat and healthy cereal choices on the market, like Honey Nut Cheerios, that make a perfect snack bag for people on the go.

#4 - Trail Mix - Trail mix can combine salty and sweet snacks together with healthy nuts and grains. You can make your own or buy it pre-mixed. I like to add baby marshmallows to my trail mix. Marshmallows are fat-free,
