All wrongs are wrong but not all wrongs are sins. There is no sin if there is no law.
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [was] dead.
Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
God told Adam to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This was a law. Adam ate, thus he sinned. Adam, through his disobediance, caused the death (separation) of his spirit from fellowshipping with God's Spirit. Adam's very nature became (singular) sin. The acts of this nature are called sins. (plural)
Every passage in the Bible telling mankind to do or not do is a commandment or law. There are many more commandments then the ten given in Exodus. All violations of these laws are sins.
Jesus death on the Cross pays the penalty for our sins if we receive Jesus as our Savior. Jesus does not force us to receive Him. We must reach out and take His free gift of salvation. The penalty of sin must be carried out if we refuse to receive Jesus. God cannot be untrue to His laws of justice for He is a just God. Only through accepting Jesus can we be restored to fellowship with Him.
Why? Our sin marred spirits are crucified with Christ the moment we receive Him as our Savior.
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Rom 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are given a new Spirit fit to be a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit to reside. This is our connection with Jesus and the means of renewed fellowship with God.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
