Runes explained

Runic divination is obtained by using the ancient Germanic symbols handed down by the gods. From a historical perspective the oldest origins can be found in Germanic sequence, a set of 24 markings that can be traced from the 5th century A.D. It was recorded the the Runes were used to mark a passage of time, and Swiss farmers of the 1800s were still using the runic calendar for protection and good crops.

Runic divination is not like Tarot or Tea Leaves divination. Runic is considered to be more Oracle based, they identify cause and effect. Where as Tarot is more or a personal reflection of your current path. Runes cannot tell you what will happen in the future.

The three key points to Nordic thought is used to understand the Runes: The first concept is that-that is fundamental to Nordic destiny emerges from myth: the sum of all things including the gods is strictly limited by it's own path and it's own time. Conflict and action are essential of your existence. Without the opportunity to act, and prove oneself, life would be pointless and make no sense.

The second concept is Wyrd: the spider web of energy channels that connect every element in the universe: Gods & Goddesses, humans, plants, animals, and minerals alike. The third concept is bipolarity. In the universe everything is double. Energies are seen in pairs of opposite and complimentary forces. So then why would one want to consult runes? The runes invoke the Gods and conduct them to us to fulfill our dreams and dispel dangers from our lives. Each rune was drawn in a different way, and as so each has it's own concepts, suggestions and ideas. Magically inspiring love, harmony, and success when lacking.

Above all they bring to the surface fears, or truths we deny. As mentioned earlier the runes cannot tell the future, they only tell of the current situation. An overall panorama of the situation including the cause and effects it may generate. The future is not unchangeable-it can be modified or mitigated. But in order to do that one must understand the current situation and it's impact on the future.

How should one learn the runes? The first step before consulting the runes is to learn and memorize them. To learn each one in form, name, and meaning. You should dedicate a day for each rune as in ancient times druids spent a year for each rune. You can learn it in about a month instead of 24 years, but nonetheless you must take the time to learn the rune.
