I Love That Bar by Toby Keith was a song that most of us can relate to. Humpy's Great Alehouse

Humpy's Alehouse opened it doors in 1994. It's goal was to provide the downtown area of Alaska with a great casual Alehouse. It has certainly succeeded. Voted best Bar in Anchorage and the bar with the best selection of beer On tap it has become the place to hang out for many locals.
There are many reasons for Humpy's success. This bar does not only provide a wide selection of beers, but they offer a large menu of great tasting food at very reasonable prices. Whether you want something simple like a hamburg and fries or one of the mouth watering seafood dishes this bar provides, you can rest assured that the food will taste great.
This bar also has something for everyone. For those of you who love music, Humpy's features the best in local musicians. Their stage has carried musicians who play everything from acoustic guitar to latest rock and everything in between.
Sports fans can watch the team of their choice on several televisions including four 42 plasma screens. It really is the next best thing to being in the stadium.
For the intellectual Tuesday night's pub quiz will allow you to test your trivia skill against other trivia enthusiasts for a chance to win a prize.
One of the best things about this bar is that it is within walking distance of many of Anchorage's downtown motels and offers a light and airy place of entertainment during the summer and a cozy place to meet and visit with others in the winter.

For those who want a wild time, there is no place like Chilkoot Charlies. Koots as the bar is often called by the locals began in 1970 when a man named Michael Gordon bought the old Alibi club. Wanting a name for his bar, Gordon turned to his author friend Rubin Gaines. Meeting Gaines for lunch, Gordon suggested using the name Chilkoot Charlie, one of Gaines characters.
