Leading a Raiding Guild in the MMORPG Word Of Warcraft can be rewarding, watching it grow and thrive, being respected by your members as a good leader. However, politics and folks leaving the game eventually ruins the experience as a guild leader. Overall it can be very fun, time consuming and an emotionally exhausting experience. Many will try this once and never come back to trying it again.

Making the dream a reality...

As a Guild Leader you will be responsible for setting the Guild's mission statement. You will need to establish the guild charter and Rules. You will need to elect some Officers to help you run and manage the guild because afterall you can't be online 24/7. Once you have a dream of what your guild is going to accomplish, then with your Officers you need to plan and organize events to make it all come true. You do this by officers meetings, Raid events, and reading or watching videos on Raid encounters so you can lead your guild and raids effectively.

Creating Guild Rules...

As a new guild you should establish a guild website. This is where your members can communicate, ask questions, and see guild rules and upcoming news. There are many free forum sites on the net, but guildportal.com is a popular one used. Now that you have your guild website you now have a place to publish your rules and loot system to the guild. This will be their place to reference any important guild information.

Now, come up with your list of Guild Rules. You can consult with officers to think of rules that should be added or modified before posting them for all members to see on the Guild website/forum. Most people are fine with rules as long as they are public and easily accessible. Remember, it's good to make sure your members are aware of all guild policies.

Reward those following the Rules and punish those breaking the Rules...

Reward good behavior in your guild by increased power. That can be by promotion in guild status by Rank which can lead to more Guild Bank access as well. You can create special ranks for your guild that players can earn through whatever deeds you deem necessary. Just as players wish to upgrade their characters, players also wish to improve their status in the guild!

You can punish bad behavior in your guild by having an Officer talk to the person causing trouble. Remember that a threat to remove them from the guild is always a good way to improve their behavior. Another option is to create special ranks in your guild that are identified
