What is open distance learning?

Open distance learning is an educational format designed to offer students the option of attaining their education without having to attend classes. Through the use of the Internet, students are able to obtain study materials, assignments and tests for the program. Students can also choose to have their study materials mailed to them if they do not access to a computer.

This is a great option for students who want to return to school and desire to complete their education, but have to maintain a full time job. It is difficult to juggle a position and school so distance learning meets students half way.

Distance learning provides students with the flexibility and convenience of setting their own pace of work. For example, a student can manage a full time job and continue his or her education at the same time. They do not have to worry about missing days at work, just to attend class.

This type of program gives the students plenty of time to finish assignments. This is another great feature of this type of program. There is no stress to finish quickly. Distance learning counselors and professors are there to make sure assignments and tests are done adequately.

Distance learning programs are designed to change at any given moment. For example, a student may want to take morning sessions instead. This can be done with the click of a mouse. In addition to that a student will be able to speak to representatives to confirm the modification. The process takes place quickly.

A student has the option of studying for a certificate program, Associates, Bachelors, and Masters, Ph.D. or Doctorate degree. This is the most attractive aspect of distance learning programs. Gone are the days when a student had to stop his or her life just to further their education. Education can mold to their schedule.

Many students wonder how they will pay for college. Distance learning programs set up flexible payment options so that it is not an issue. Students can pay as little or as much as they want to cover the cost of the program. The payment can range anywhere from $30 -$50 a month depending on the format of the program.

Education is very important. It gives students to the power and skills they need to be successful in a job market. In today's economy an education essential. Having a degree will open many doors and the opportunities are endless.
