The sequel to Disgaea features whacky characters like the original did. However, it is more serious than the first title due to a more mature (though it's still funny) story and some of the characters having personalities that aren't as daft.
There are still characters that exist for comic relief though. The character called Tink is a perfect example of Disgaea 2 having characters there solely for comic relief because he really is quite a humorous character.
In all honesty, for humour, Tink is definitely up there with the best of the Disgaea characters and that's a good thing because Disgaea 2 is more serious than Disgaea and Disgaea 3. So, while the other characters are more serious, Tink's sole reason for existing in my view is to provide humor.
An introduction to Tink:
At the start of the game, a village has been cursed which is turning the humans into demons as they slowly lose their sanity/humanity. Adell is the only one who's unaffected by the curse and he wants to save his village. He plans to do this by defeating Overlord Zenon (who cursed the village) when he his mother summons him. So, they'd embarked on acquiring ingredients for the summoning and when they'd acquired them, they try summoning Zenon. It doesn't go to plan though and Adell gets lumbered with Zenon's daughter. Adell ends up using Zenon's daughter, who's called Rozalin, to find her father so he can defeat him and break the curse.
During the journey to find Overlord Zenon, they go to an abandoned mansion and it's there they run into Tink. He's a survivor of an attack on the place by Zenon and oddly enough, he's a frog with a split personality. He also has a french accent which is amusing.
Tink himself is a childhood friend of Rozalin. He seems to be the sort of character who's constantly getting the worse of the beatings. He also happens to have a split personality which is honestly amusing. When his good personality is in control, he has blue skin. When his bad personality is in control, his skin is red. It is when his bad personality is in control that he's at his most humorous and that is because he constantly insults characters and makes passes at the females.
Tink as a playable character:
Tink is ideal for item world incursions due to his high jump statistic and he has to use monster weapons. His movement is boosted when he's coloured blue and standing next to male characters. His statistics are boosted by twenty percent when he's coloured red and standing next to female characters.
