The first Disgaea game featured wacky characters, stories and part of its beauty was the way that each character's personality played off the personalities of the other characters. The second game follows the trend, but it does need to be said that while it does, it is more serious than the first title due to some of the main characters and also the plot.
There are still characters that exist for comic relief though. The character called Tink is a perfect example of Disgaea 2 having characters there solely for comic relief because he really is quite a humorous character.
Rozalin is one of the more serious characters in the game, though none are truly serious in all honesty. It's just that when some of the characters in this game are compared to the characters found in the first game, they do seem serious in comparison.
An introduction to Rozalin:
At the start of the game, you're introduced to Adell and his family who live in a village called Holt. The village itself along with Adell's family has been cursed and are slowly losing their sanity as they become more like demons. Adell himself is untouched by the curse and the only human in the village.
It is at this stage that they try and summon Overlord Zenon, the demon responsible for cursing the village. Adell and his family want to summon the demon so that Adell can defeat him and reverse the curse placed on his village and family. However, the summoning goes wrong and they end up summoning his daughter who is Rozalin.
Adell gets lumped with Rozalin and ends up promising to get her to her father safely. Of course, he also want to take her to her father because he can then defeat Zenon because at the moment, he doesn't know where Zenon is. His sense of honour though leads to Rozalin questioning why he wishes to protect her when she views herself as his enemy.
Rozalin is also the heiress to the lands Zenon rules with being his daughter. However, she is spoilt and has never left the safety her house even once. So for a lot of the game, she learns about herself and the world.
Rozalin as a playable character:
She is proficient in using guns, so it's recommended to only use those weapons with her or else she won't be as effective as she could be in battle. When she's placed next a male character, she also boosts the character's statistics by twenty percent. It's pretty handy really.
She also has three skills she can use. They are dependant on the hit statistic with the exception of Rose Liberation , which boosts the statistics of characters.
