Video game characters: Adell from Disgaea 2

As a game, Disgaea 2 is more serious than the original and this is in a large part due to the characters not having personalities that are as funny.

However, the above doesn't mean that all of the characters have a more serious personality though. Etna is in the game and as many know, she was in the previous title. Also, Tink is a character that's definitely not serious at all and in my mind, he's only there to provide the laugh because what could be better than a talking frog with a split personality?

Adell is different though. While his personality may make him seem somewhat corny, he has more of a serious personality.

An introduction to Adell:

Originally, humans inhabited the village of Holt. The people of Holt get cursed though and are slowly transforming into demons while losing their sanity. Adell is the only one that remains untouched by the curse. He also hates the fact he's the only one to not be affected and he wants to try and save his family and the rest of the villagers.

An overlord called Zenon was responsible for placing the curse on Adell's family and their village. So naturally, Adell wants to defeat Overlord Zenon. In an attempt to bring Overlord Zenon to them, Adell's mother attempts to summon him. The summoning goes wrong though and Adell ends up being lumbered with Zenon's daughter, Rozalin.

It is upon meeting her that we're the introduced to the main personality quirk that Adell has. He goes on and on about honour. He also goes on and on about how he will defeat Overlord Zenon and free his family and village because he must. Rozalin finds this amusing because he vows to protect her and take her back to her father, despite her being his enemy. That's the way she sees it anyway.

So, Adell is a rather funny character due to his personality which forces him to never break promises, be honourable and to never give up. There isn't much else that's funny about him at all.

Adell as a playable character:

Adell is good at using fist weapons and so it's wise to keep him using them in battle, because he won't be as effective with other weapons. He also deals increased damage to enemies that are at a higher level than he is, so that's a pretty handy ability he has. The skills he gains to damage enemies with use his attack statistic but they also deal fire damage.

Overall, I personally prefer to use him as the main character in battles. He's good at soaking up the enemy's attacks and he can also deal pretty good damage on his own.
