Sica Hollow in October
hallowed ground of the noble Sioux
a canyon riveted in color
for only a week or two.
Don't hesitate to take the drive
to stop and taste the trickle
of clear spring water
that lacks temperament of fickle.
For when the weather turns
with a breath of wind
a rain patters the leaves
of fall beauty to rescind.
Fallen leaves line the hollow
skeletal trees stand at hand
Sica Hollow lost its garment
and winter soon fills the land.
