Humor: Kindergarten

by David O'Brien

Created on: July 06, 2009

So today's the day, to breakaway from the comfort of a gentle touch. It is only when we stray from the routine, is when our stubborn will, can be challenged. Observation becomes the need, to see the way your school mates so easily adapt gracefully, compared to that which stirs the inner self transparently. Each day messages to home indicate the very strain weighing heavy to my tender frame. Schooling begins with overlapping rewards, on a daily occurrence. The parents begin to let down the guard, of seeing these miniature clones of themselves leading away from their only known nests. To test these fresh wings, to ensure air remains beneath each flight, is rewarding indeed.

Such an early lesson it was looking back, from these tiny humans we once were. Our memories of a special friend, or a great lesson learned from this educator of life. Vocally we train, until the time of graduation is met, to officially move on to our next grade. Every corner we hide, and each topic we stray from, will only heighten the time to reach for that elusive diploma upon this stage. How rewarding it was to complete that moment. Look out first grade, here I come. Being the last one crossing the stage, was nerve racking for me. Today's children learn so much before those classroom days begin. Learning to interact is surely the first test we all face in our youth. How could home schooling compete with these valuable early lessons. Protection is always a concern, while focus and determination must equally blend.

Now comes the summer to enjoy your friends, who will soon share bus rides, to the classes of our next coming year. Learning to play and act appropriately is absorbed by those we share time with. The chemistry of different individuals, is always a new test of character. Did everyone get their nap, eat properly, or receive the love needed to be supported and stable. Some will succeed in life without any pause for air, while others will entertain as clowns in our classes. People can point the direction, but the trade winds will always prevail.

How proud the teacher must be handing off the pride of each previous years journey. Molded from fresh ambition, and not yet aware of doubt, together these first few years of school fit tightly as one. Lucky are the ones who find themselves through the guidance of our educators. A parents word of approval is the ultimate seal for any person working with their child. A system that works well is fluent.
