Poetry: Breaking up

by Yvonne Griffie

Created on: July 06, 2009

I thought we'd be together, I thought that it would last

I never thought our love would be something of the past.

I wish I knew what went wrong, so that I could make it right

I wanted to get along with you; I didn't want to fight.

I miss our days of laughter, I miss our nights of love

Every single day and night, you are the one I'm thinking of.

My heart still pounds at the very sound of your name

It wasn't very long ago, that you felt the very same.

You were my first, my only - what am I to do?

My heart won't let you go; Breaking up is hard to do
