One of my favorite ways to delve into spiritual growth is to look within myself. Our soul, immortal and ageless as it is, has within itself infinite wisdom from both the other side and our previous lives on this Earth. Our instincts, gut feelings and hunches are wisdom that we are receiving from our own immortal soul. The hard part is listening, and believing.
Listening to the self, and actually letting your inner self guide you can be very hard. After all, are we not taught from childhood to believe in what we see? To trust only in scientifically proven facts that have been tested and retested in a controlled environment? I have nothing here against science, it has its time and place. When it comes to finding spiritual wisdom from your inner Self to yourself, listening is half the hard part, believing is the other.
A great way to begin listening to the Self is through meditation. Quieting your mind, slowing your breathing and listening to your innermost thoughts. Please be aware that this is not an instant thing. This is something that will take practice. The great part, is that as you practice, you will start to hear your own internal spiritual wisdom, even when you aren't looking for it. Supposed coincidences will begin to show you that you can in fact trust your inner wisdom for guidance.
As you listen and learn you will see that there is something to this. Your soul knows what you need, because it is, always has been, and always will be you. Not just the body that you have right now on earth in this life but you. The real you. The you that decided to come into this life that you are currently in for the purpose of learning something. Your Self knows what that reason is why you came here, and knows what you will need to fulfill that goal. In other words, listening to your inner Self will help you to intuitively keep your life on the path that you were meant to be on. It will make sure that you run into the people who will help you in this life, and help you avoid those who will be of no use to you.
Listening you the wisdom of your immortal and wise self is something that will not only take time, but it will also (you may not even notice at first) become a part of your daily life. It will bring you closer to the Divine, and to achieving your own personal best. Listening to your self will help you to avoid major roadblocks, or at least make the best of them.
