TV show reviews: American Idol

Is anyone else out there tired of American Idol? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the country that doesn't like it. I see why the show appeals to so many, but personally, I'm just plain sick of it!

First of all, most of the winners really haven't done anything. I think Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are awesome. I own their CDs. But, what about the rest of them? I haven't heard anything about them except for in American Idol articles.

Also, I know someone that tried out last year, and your first audition isn't even with Paula, Randy and Simon. That shows that they actually pick "bad" people to go audition so that the country can make fun of them. Does anyone think that that's just a little bit cruel? Of course, nobody can suck that bad and not know that they suck, so I'm sure they're agreeing to do it so that they can be on TV. Some people will do anything for that 15 seconds of fame.

Another thing that I don't like about the show is the fact that I know several people that are struggling to make it in the music business. They have incredible talent and are having to work extremely hard to reach their dreams. The American Idol contestants compete in some contest and all of a sudden they have a record deal. I just don't think it's fair to the really talented people that work their way to the top.

The last thing that bothers me about the show and I've heard others complain about this, is that IT'S ON ALL THE TIME! One night a week is PLENTY! Maybe it's because I'm such a huge fan of House, MD, but I hate that some of my favorite shows get knocked off for American Idol. Why does it need to be on 3 days a week? The ratings are up now, I'm sure, but don't you guys get tired of it?

I'm not condemning anyone for liking the show. As I said earlier, I understand how it may appeal to some. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there is tired of it like I am.
