Is sunlight essential for our health? Yes definitely, waking up in the morning to a bright, clear sunny day makes you feel better about yourself. You can wear those beautiful summery dresses that are always left in the back of your wardrobe, waiting for the sun to come out so you can water them. The sun makes you feel uplifted and happy, it makes you want to go out and do things, not just stay in watching the television. It makes you feel energized like you are ready for the world. The sun shining in the morning gives you a good mind-set for the rest of the day.
If it is raining and dull outside when you wake in the mornings, do you really want to get out of bed and go to work knowing you are going to get wet. Having to run from the door to your car before every inch of you is soaked, it is even worse if you have to go on public transport. Do you really want to go for that run you had planned when the weather outside it thundering and lightening. All you want to do when it is cold and wet is to stay indoors where it warm and dry, sat in front of the television or read a book. This is not as much exercise as you may have hoped for. If the sun is shining, you may walk instead of going in the car, automatically giving you the exercise you needed without the hardship of it.
Not only does the sun change your mood with its uplifting feel, it also has a very good source of vitamin D which helps your bones to stay healthy. Some people suffer from seasonal disorders like the winter blues. Surely this is evidence itself that the sun is beneficial to us. It allows us to enjoy nature and being outside in the open, going for walks, playing football and other physical activities. This has its health benefits also, keeping us fit and giving us the exercise our bodies need without going to the gym. If it was raining or cold outside we would not do as many physical activities as we would in the sun therefore not getting enough daily exercise.
The sun also helps you to eat more healthily as you do not want to stand over a cooker cooking hot meals, let alone eat a big roast dinner. In the summertime, you want to eat salads and pasta because it is not really hot and does not make you feel tired once you have eaten it like a roast dinner would. These leave you feeling full and still with the energy to go back out and enjoy the sun. The sun helps you to keep a good healthy balanced diet.
As you can see the sun has many benefits on your health, your mood and your body. If you feel good about yourself, which a nice tan always does, then the rest of you, from your body through to your mind and spirit, will reap the benefits.
