Home business ideas for moms

People regularly ask me what is the best home business opportunity? Often, they've looked at various opportunities; perhaps direct selling or multilevel marketing. Often, they've been burned by some work-at-home scheme. What they want, is something that works something that can generate an income realistically and have potential for the future. Most are not interested in getting rich; they just want to make decent income from home.

So, what do I consider my hands-down, nothing-beats-this business as a best pick? With out a doubt, it's selling on eBay and other online auctions. And, I have no doubt, you've probably run across the idea before, and maybe turned a blind eye to it because you didn't think of it as a business opportunity.

Let me parrot off a handful of reasons why selling on online auctions makes sense.

Ebay is a recognized entity, so it already has credibility that, in itself, is a boon to your business. You are working in a recognized industry with a respected player.

Then, there's the issue of selling. People don't like face-to-face marketing. In fact, it's the one thing I see as a home business consultant that stops people in their tracks. Selling on online auctions requires no pushy face-to-face selling. It's all automatic and the buyers literally come to you.

How about products to sell? You can start off by clearing out your attic or basement. For those items, you have no wholesale cost, so it's pure income to you. Meanwhile, you learn the ropes. Then, you can gravitate to selling the bargains you pick up at yard sales, flea markets and thrift shops. The final stage can have you working with wholesalers and suppliers once you understand how things operate. It's a real easy, grow-your-way-into-it situation.

Another really important item is the backdrop PayPal can handle most of the payments, which literally means money in your mailbox when an auction ends. No billing, no collections. Ebay and PayPal produce nearly all the accounting you need, so there's minimal bookkeeping. Ebay has all the mechanics of the website, so you don't need to worry about getting your own website developed. In essence, almost everything you need is provided for you behind the scenes how nice is that?

Auction selling can produce nearly immediate results, too. You can set up an eBay account, start selling this week, and earn money by the weekend. In other business opportunities, it can take months before you start seeing a return, and until then, you may incur a lot of overhead. With auction selling, the fees you pay are minimal, and most of them are derived from your sales you make money nearly immediately and any fees are paid out of the proceeds.

So, it all adds up to quite a fantastic opportunity. Most people don't recognize it as such, though. A lot of folks merely see eBay and other auction sites as a way to sell an item here or an item there they don't recognize the potential in it for ongoing sales and the kind of income it can produce with regular effort.
