Finding out you are pregnant for the first time is an experience like none other. Experiencing the widest range of emotions possible, first time mothers often find themselves worried about the months to come and what will happen within their bodies. For most new mothers, the first trimester is often the most worrisome period, as this is the time during pregnancy where a woman is most susceptible to miscarry.
The first three months of pregnancy is a delicate time. Your new baby is just getting settled in his new home within your womb, and he really needs you to make sure he will have all he needs. He won't hesitate to make sure you know if there is something wants or if there is something he needs and is not getting.
Morning sickness is very common in the first trimester. Most women experience feelings of nausea immediately after waking up during the first three months of pregnancy, normally followed by vomiting. Some women only experience this effect for a few weeks while others may suffer with morning sickness for their entire pregnancy.
Another very common effect that should be expected during the first trimester is being off balance. As your body adjusts to pregnancy, it sometimes causes in influx in hormones that can affect a woman's center of balance and may cause head spins. This sometimes gets worse as the pregnancy progresses, but can usually be helped by standing up slowly and ensuring you have a firm grip on something sturdy until you find your equilibrium.
Of course, everyone knows about the famous mood swings suffered by pregnancy women. The first trimester often hosts the worst of the mood swings, since the body takes quite some time to adjust to the new hormones being secreted and the adjusted levels of your normally secreted hormones. Pregnancy induces an increase in secretion of certain chemicals within the body and decreases others. Most of these chemicals have a direct effect on the emotions and how the brain perceives day to day events. Hence, something that may have caused you to be overjoyed one day may cause rage in your the next - and chances are that you won't understand why.
Some women do experience slight spotting during the first trimester. This shouldn't be cause for alarm, as it is caused by the embryo attaching itself to the uterine wall and is perfectly normal. However, if the bleeding persists or becomes more than a few spots a visit to your obstetrician is in order as soon as possible.
Normally, you won't feel your baby
