There are numerous basic things you may do to improve chi in your home, such as avoiding clutter, to much furniture in a room and many other situations. However, nothing will help to create sheng chi more than using remedies to counteract si chi. In order to use feng shui to improve your rooms, your house and the land on which your home sits you must first start with yourself. First you must determine you personal compass (Pa Tzu) number through which you will discover your lucky and unlucky directions.
There are two formulas to find your personal Pa Tzu. For Females subtract 4 from the last two digits of your birth year and then divide by 9. The reminder is you Pa Tzu number. If that number is five then you will use 8 as your Pa Tzu number. For males subtract the last two digits of your birth year from 100 and then divide by 9. Again you number is the remainder. If that number is 5 then you will use 2 are you Pa Tzu number.
Using an I Ching personal trigram chart you will determine your personal trigram by using your year of birth. Keep in mind that feng shui and I Ching are based on the Chinese lunar calendar and the year does not end until somewhere between February 5th and February 17th , if your birthday is previous to those dates you would use the previous year, as an example I was born January 8 1951 so I would use 1950. Once your personal trigram is determined you then check a lucky directions chart to find your lucky and unlucky directions, each trigram is also associated with an element.
Then your Chinese animal will need to be establish, this is done in a similar manner as determining your personal trigram, again remember the Chinese lunar calendar. Once you have established your animal you are ready to start a feng shui reading, using a feng shui compass or luopan you would face in the direction you wish to read, keeping a flat edge pointed toward the direction in question.
In the center of the luopan is a compass ( Heaven's Pool) containing the compass needle and symbolizes the starting point for chi. It is also the area in which yin and yang interact, waxing and waning, rising and falling. In feng shui, unlike in the west, it is the south pointing needle point which is used. Once the needle has settled in a north-south position you are ready to begin.
Setting Heaven's Pool to align with the south pointing needle point and moving the inner and outer rings you will take a reading and the results will depend on if you are eastern or western life, your I Ching trigram and your personal animal. Once you have taken readings for the eight directions you will need to consult varies charts to determine the proper actions to take in order to increase sheng chi and decreasing si chi in those direction. Keep in mind the remedies used should be comfortable and energizing for you.
