Job security with companies

In today's world, there is pretty much no such thing as job security. The state of the world's economy is proof enough that nobody's job is secure. You could possibly lose your job at any given time and/or moment. In the case of a company, job security is very much uncertain. Nobody is immune to getting laid off. You could have the best qualifications and get laid off. You could have the most education and could get laid off. In short, nobody is really immune to getting laid off.

There is no way to really prepare for the possibility of getting laid off. However, there are steps you can take.

Step One:

Pay attention to what is going on at the work place. In today's world, what you do not know will pretty much hurt you. In terms of working for a company, what you do not know could possibly get you laid off. However, paying attention is different from being a gossip.

In that respect, do not pay attention to the gossip and the grapevine. To be honest, the grapevine is pure garbage and is not really a relevant or reliable source. What you need to do is pay attention to the reliable sources.

Step Two:

Pay attention to the news. If something is going to affect the job market let alone an industry and/or a specific company that should be a foreshadowing that you could possibly get laid off. The news is an actually good source of information. However, the news is not completely reliable for the most part. I would say do a combination of steps one and two.

Step Three:

Should in any case that you run across the possibility of getting laid off, you may want to start some job hunting. It is best to prepare for the possibility. In the worst case scenario, you can and will get laid off. Best case scenario, you can keep your job. A more realistic and slightly positive scenario would be keeping your job but having a pay cut. In case you get laid off and find another job, be prepared for the possibility that you get paid less than what you did at your previous job.

Overall, there is no such thing as job security at any company. When things go down south, you could find yourself in the unemployment line. It really does not matter what company you work for. If something happens such as a loss of business, outsourcing, or something else, you can find yourself laid off. You could hold a master's degree or a PhD and still get laid off from your job.

Step Four:

Pay attention to the job market. Also, correlate
