Reasons to pursue a freelance writing career

Why should you pursue a career as a freelance writer? There are a lot of good things that can come of being a freelance writer, and if you are willing to follow your desires and become a freelance writer, you will find that there are a lot of good opportunities out there for you. Being a freelance writer is unlike anything else in the world, and there is really no other job like it. You will get to do so many things that you cannot do being stuck in an office, or working a regular job.

First off, where else do you ever get to determine your own schedule? I love waking up at one in the afternoon, and just hopping on to my computer to start my daily work. I work for about eight hours a day on average, and then when I'm done I am done. I don't have to beat rush hour traffic home, and I don't have to work overtime. I get extra pay based on page views, or posting links to my work. It doesn't take too much effort other to find these places.

Where do you get to wake up and determine what you are going to do for the day? You don't have anyone telling you what to write about, and even if you take an assignment it is of your own free will. Therefore even assigned work is work that you choose to write about, so it really isn't an assignment, just a topic that you choose to write about and get paid for. You get to travel to do research if you want, and you basically determine what your day is going to consist of.

With the Internet bringing many companies to the forefront of the industry, it is easier than ever to break into writing. Helium is a great place to start because anyone can get published. While you need to write quality in order to get any money out of it, you can learn what you are doing wrong as you go, and learn from experience. You also have a lot of people who are willing to help you out and make sure that you are going in the direction that you want to go.

All you need is a computer, and it doesn't matter what type. Be it a new laptop, or an old computer, you are good as long as you have an Internet connection, or even Word if you are going to submit to publishers by mail. What could be easier about that? You don't need a car, you don't need to drive to work, you don't need to take training courses unless you don't know how to type. There is nothing complex about getting started, and that is the best reason to do it.

Freelancing really is for everybody, even if it isn't a moneymaking situation for everybody. Some people are better writers than others, but if you work at it, and it is your dream job, there is no reason not to do it. If you have the will, there is certainly the opportunity out there for you to succeed. Freedom, independence, and the ability to work from anywhere and do anything you want. How cool is that?
