Recipes: Chili

Easy homemade great-tasting Chili

This is a great-tasting chili that is very easy to make. My husband has been making it for over 10 years. We normally make this when we have a get-together at our house or it can also be taken to a friend's house for a cook-out.

Instructions:

Things You'll Need:

1 pound lean ground beef or ground sirloin
1 big container of tomato juice

1 can mild chili beans
1 can Bush's s chili magic Texas style
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 cup diced onion
1 garlic clove chopped
Dash of cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

Step One
In a large pot with lid, brown the lean ground beef until done. Leave in pieces about the size of a grape. Drain away any fat from the ground beef by draining in a colander . Place back into pot. Add the onion and garlic. Let cook for about 5 minutes over medium low heat.

Step Two
Next add the dark red kidney beans , chili beans, Bush's chili magic Texas style, canned tomatoes and all of the tomato juice. Stir very well. Add the chili powder and dash of Cayenne pepper. Mix all ingredients together.

Step Three
Cook over medium low heat at least 1 hour or up to 5 hours on low heat stirring every 30 minutes. Taste and add salt and pepper if need. I serve this with crackers and cheddar cheese on top. For my daughter a peanut butter sandwich on the side.

Tip one

You can also make this the night before and and chill over night. Just reheat over medium heat for 30 minutes.

Tip two

This is also great the next day. I like to drain the juice the next day and make chili cheese fries. Just add the chili to the top of cooked french fries add cheddar cheese and place in oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese. Top with sour cream.

It is also great on baked potatoes and chili cheese omelets.
