Losing the Race
You know, it seems that all people want to do nowadays is get in fights.
So I guess
it would be
hypocritical of me
to keep writing this.
Because
probably
according to society
It is raising a petty fight.
And that's what I want to write about.
They always tell you in English class
to dot your i's
cross your t's
and never start a tale with
"I'm going to tell you a story."
I'm going to tell you a story.
There once was a very stupid society.
It is recorded that in some cultures
they called this disgrace
the human race.
And that it was- a race.
A race to see
who could
indefinitely
outrun the opponent.
And who was
the human race's
opponent?
The human race.
You see, while the world was experiencing tragedy,
the human race
held its hands in front of its face.
While
hunger
death
grief
poverty
ignorance
scorn
selfishness
war
ruled the earth, the human race preferred to get in petty fights.
Who do we attack next?
Who's the best president?
Whose straw is too small?
Copyright laws?
Who deserves the money?
Where will we get more honey?
How should she be charged?
Will the groundhog see his shadow before March?
How will the country react?
You'll mess up the entire act!
Should we go to war?
Do you even want war?
Do you agree with him?
Do you agree with her?
Should I sue them?
Should I sue you?
Selfish questions that floated through courtrooms and bedrooms.
Ignorant questions that pierced hearts and minds.
Always thinking of themselves.
Never of others.
While those others lie
hungry
dying
grieving
poor
ignored
scorned
the noise of their quarrels rose above rooftops
and drifted to other ears.
Over poor, little things, the human race kept on fighting.
Who missed this typo?
Where did all of the years go?
Do aliens exist?
What's the right way to kiss?
As far as financial fraud goes,
who really knows?
Is she my friend?
How will the world end?
But for once in history,
a question was answered.
That last one, ironically.
Soon, prying eyes saw the petty fights.
They saw their opportunity.
The human race slowly fell
they could not tell
the danger they were in.
For all around them,
hunger
death
grief
poverty
ignorance
scorn
selfishness
war
surrounded their eyes,
and weighed on their demise.
and I can surely tell you
that
for once in history,
a question was answered.
How will the world end?
For the human race,
the world ended not in explosions and tears,
but in words befallen upon ignorant ears.
They always tell you in English class
to dot your i's
cross your t's
and never end a tale with
"That was my story."
That was my story.
To you I hope it can be
a warning from me
for your sake
if you happen to be the human race.
But I guess
it would be
hypocritical of me
to tell you your own story.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS
There was a time,
When things were usually good,
When ignorance was bliss,
A time called childhood.
However,

his heart pounded with fear, his head with pain
