Katie Holmes is the better character in the movie Batman Begins because she's by far more attractive. I don't see the appeal in Maggie Gyllenhaal, but some people think she's attractive. I think the attraction is stronger with her Katie and Christian Bale. Katie Holmes decided not to continue her role in The Dark Knight because of scheduling conflicts.

Katie Holmes is a big fan of Chris Nolan, the director of Batman. When she heard of the movie coming out, she attended all the meetings, read the script, and tried out the role of Rachel. After 3 days, she got the part and was ecstatic. She called everyone she knew.

Katie Holmes plays Rachel, the former sweetheart of Bruce Wayne. They grew up together but when Bruce decided to move out of the country for awhile, they grew distant. When Bruce returned, he found her as Assistant District Attorney of Gotham. Rachel had trouble prosecuting the biggest criminals because of the corrupt justice system. Bruce, however, couldn't let Rachel know he was helping her putting criminals to justice because then his identity would be revealed. We don't want that do we?

Katie enjoyed playing Rachel because of Rachel's strong character. She let Bruce know how she felt and didn't apologize for it. She was a tough woman and Katie likes that. Her relationship with Bruce can be both platonic and romantic. They are very close friends, but have that chemistry. They can tell each other everything because they known each other all their lives.

She got along very well with Chris Nolan. He let her do her job, then would step in and guide them in the right direction if something didn't settle with him. She thinks he's a brilliant director. She trusted him and was proud to be in it and proud of the movie. Katie was very pleased with her performance when she first watched the film.

There were also rumors that Katie Holmes did not want to continue her role in the movie because she didn't want to or because Tom didn't approve of it. I, however, think the latter. Katie enjoyed the role and there is no doubt in my mind, she would decline it simply because she didn't want to be in it.

Another reason I don't like Maggie is because of her negative remarks about Katie. She looks at Katie as a generic woman in a dress. She feels that Chris picked Maggie because he wanted her, not Katie. I beg to differ. Maggie is recognized for her performances, but I feel Katie is the better choice for these types of movies because in Hollywood, looks matter and frankly, for this type of movie, Maggie doesn't have them.
