Recipes: Quick mini-pizzas

by Bethany Harvey

Created on: July 03, 2009

Here is my families quick mini pizzas. We started making these when my kids were little for family night. We were low on money and wanted a night for something special. I was given this idea from my sister. We rented a movie. Turned on the oven and everyone got to make their own special pizza. No more fighting over who wanted what . Everyone, even the youngest, got to choose just what they wanted. It became a tradition in our family..I hope it will in yours too.

Here is what you need for your own family night tradition.

Ingredients:

Pre-made biscuit dough- thekind in the tube that "pops" when you open it and separates into individual biscuits. Any brand will do.

Pizza sauce..any brand that is your favorite

Any topping that you would like.. cheese..fruit..be creative.. anything goes!

Have your kids help..this is a great family activity that even a 2 year old can do. Involving them makes them feel special and they are more likely to eat something they have made.

Make sure hands are washed. Make it a game that everyone has to do and your kids are more willing to get that dirt off.

Get a cookie sheet and and grease lightly. The size depends on how many mini pizzas you are making..use two or three to make sure you have enough room for everyone's creation. My kids wanted their own pan..not touching anyone elses..indulge if you can. Independance is a good thing and should be encouraged

Take any brand of packaged biscuit dough..the kind in the tube that "pops" when you open it.

Separate the pieces and give each helper one if you are not alone. If they will eat more than one you will need to get as much dough as you need.

Press the individual pieces and flatten into a roundish pizza shape..not too flat .just enough to make a small pizza size serving.

Top with sauce. Using a spoon spread the sauce to the edges of the dough.

Finish with your favorite toppings ...cheese..meat..peperoni, etc. Be creative here. The sky is the limit..try fruit...veggies..last nights leftover grilled meat..

Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes

Enjoy!
