More often than not, people actually lose their drive to take action upon discovering the world of self-help.They become complacent about their wisdom.
Yes, it is quite unbelievable, but true.
To a large part, the self help industry's aggressive marketing is to be blamed for this.
If you look at the promotional ads for self help books, you will find that a lot of them promise instant overnight miracles on their sales copy.
Particularly after this movie-The Secret came out, there has been a burst of consciousness among general people about the importance of having proper mindsets.
Which is all very good..
But if you fall for the marketing ,you can very well be led to believe that just understanding 'The Secret' or 'The Law of Attraction' or just getting the right mindset through a bunch of techniques like Neuro Linguistic Programming(NLP) or positive affirmations is going to produce the required changes.
Well, it is not.
It is said that awareness is half of the solution. That's right, just half of the solution. The other half comes from taking consistent action.
But it's so easy y to fall for the trap is it not?
Because this information is so easily available these days, you read and watch these dvds continuously. Since you are so convinced that it's the right mindset which is doing the trick, you think I need some more info to shape my mindset. And that's all I need to reach my million dollars.
So you buy more books and get more knowledge.
Now, you are actually in a worse position than an ignorant person, because secretly you harbor a false sense of security and complacency because you know the mindset, you know what you need to do.
You tell yourself, I'll just do it someday, after all I already know what to do,.
This can be a death trap, no real changes are being produced but in your head you are getting smarter and smarter and thinking oh-I am making progress. The Law of Attraction is working for me.
Reality check:
"Knowledge without action is just information" - Einstein.
Which means :
1. An annual subscription to Men's Health is not taking away the excess flab unless you hit the gym
2. Reading entire date guides aren't going to get you anywhere unless you get out of your house and interact with more people
3. Reading entire volumes of wall street secrets are not doing anything unless you put your money in the market
Knowing it logically is great. But it is not sufficient. There are countless successful people in the world that don't even know the law of attraction. But they are doing fine, aren't they?
Why?Because they are taking action,
To be one of those guys, you must become a man of action too. You must physically take the rubber and make it meet the road. You must as Tony Robbins says act from 'personal power'.
Otherwise, you will just be another encyclopedia. And in the world where we have Google, we really don't need another encyclopedia.
