Helium deleted one of your articles: Now what?

We've all had it happen to us before - we take our time to write flawless articles, thinking it's the greatest thing in the world. We read it over, we fix the mistakes, and we hit the submit button. After a few days, your article may have risen or fallen in the rankings, and you may not be making as much money off it as you'd like.

And suddenly, you get an email from Helium, telling you that your article has been deleted. The article that you spent your hard-to-come-by time on, putting in your hard work, effort, and dedication on . . . has just been deleted.

Of course, your initial reaction is anger. Why did this happen? Was it that bad? What caused them to delete it out of the blue? At this point, you have many options. Counting out worrying and writing angry emails to the Helium staff, there are 3 main things you can do.

1. Why did Helium delete your article?

If you have your eyes set on getting to the bottom of things, start by figuring out why your article was deleted. The best thing to do is contact Helium about it. Send them a pleasant email explaining your problem, and simply ask them why the article was deleted. They'll most likely give you straight forward response telling you exactly why.

There are many reasons an article could have been deleted. Helium is simply changing with the times. The site has changed so much over the years it's almost hard to believe. Helium would have most likely deleted your article if it was too short than today's minimum standards or was out of date for these reasons.

Perhaps your article wasn't as good as you thought it was. If it was ranked low, it may have been a good thing it was deleted. Often articles that are off subject, badly formatted, or are against Helium's standards are deleted. Make sure to read what Helium expects from each article in the Help section of the website.

2. Rewrite it!

Once you've figured out what the problem was, use that to your advantage. Take the information Helium gave you and use it to create a better article on the same topic. If you were dedicated to this article, it won't hurt to redo it if necessary. Knowing the problems and fixing them in your new article will almost always work to your advantage.

If the issue was with a title you may have suggested, perhaps there's a better-suited title for your article that already exists. You can introduce a new title to showcase your article or resubmit an entirely new and improved article to an already-existing title.

3. Move on!

There's always going to be a reason why Helium deleted one of your articles. Sometimes it's best to just leave those deleted articles in the past. Helium deletes articles because they are not beneficial to keep around. If they feel that your article wasn't up to their writing standards, move on and start writing elsewhere. If your article was hurting you to begin with, what's the point in rewriting it? There are millions of titles to write to - worrying over this one is wasting you time you could be using to write other articles.

One deleted article is nothing to fret over. It's Helium's job to find the articles that may be "out of place" or against their standards, and if you write one of those articles, they have no choice to delete it. Whether you decide to find out out more about it, rewrite it, or forget about it, a deleted article is just a part of growing as a writer.
