Rain.
Cleansing need.
It never rains as time crawls.
Cloudless skies yield no relief.
I begged for rain and tasted bitter ash.
I bartered for rain and loathed the sun.
I cursed the rain, mute I seemed.

and it would not rain.
Dry pools mock me,
dark pavement laughs.
The months pass,
but it never rains.
Please God.
Rain.
