Poetry: You had to go

by Ella Beckham

Created on: July 02, 2009

You had to go

leaving me alone

I watched you

go out the door

mumbling something about

needing time alone

I find you ten years later

on my doorstep with

a wife and three kids

one of the was ten

you had to go and leave me

you had to walk away

knowing

every couple has their problems

every relationship worth saving

would have been saved

the second things got wierd with us

you had to go and leave me

you were scared of all your problems

so instead of fixing you ran away from them

hiding day and night

knowing they'd come back and haunt you

you thought you could outsmart them

you had to go and leave

now didnt you?

you had to leave me alone and afraid

sitting at home

waiting for someone

who had fled the sourrounding area

someone heartless and cruel

guttless on fuel

someone so selfish

they dont bother to stand by

to witness the after shocks of the pain that they've caused

someone that had to go and leave everything behind

because that everything was slowly fading into nothing

that someone was you
