He Said His Name
That man was here today again
The tall guy who is awfully thin
His bones stick out from around his face
He does not belong here in this place
He kinda snorts and wheezes a little
And he tilts his head sometimes as he giggles
He is an odd-duck, as others would say
And I believe he just came to play.
He said his name is Sam or Jan
He stutters sometimes when he talks, this man
He talks in riddles, rhymes and prose
And sometimes understanding him, well nobody knows.
But there he was once more again
He greeted me shyly with his grin
He held his hand out to shake hello
And I shuttered to grab the stub he showed.
His hand was withered, his wrist deformed
They looked as though it caused forlorn
For I could not participate
In the hand shake of this reprobate.
He was not thus, I'm sure by far
But I could no longer view the scar
That also did his face disfigure
And near his eye it made me quiver.
There was a spot or mark or burn
I could not look nor dare discern
For as I looked more deep and clear
It seemed to me he was so queer.
So odd and strange this way to look
I thought of an ogre from a fairytale book.
He was tall and gangly and awkward still
He presented himself as lost and ill.
No matter how I looked or listened
It was not until my spirit glistened
At last I saw him with my heart
There was a man, handsome, yet smart.
His eyes were wise, his mouth was stern
He no longer was a source to spurn.
He now stood there as a gentle man
Who reached to touch me with his hand.
A hand so strong and full of peace
I could no longer but feel release.
The freedom that my heart unveiled
Made none the fears that once prevailed.
Here was this man, a friend became.
Who entered into my domain?
As creature, maybe even foe,
Until at last he would truly show
That now I know him, he's close to me
A more faithful friend will never be.
He has a limp and still the stutter
But to me a friend who's like no other.
He is tall and charming, helpful and whole
Because now I see him with my soul.

That man was here today again
The tall guy who is awfully thin
His bones stick out from around

A passing stranger passed today,
God directed the bloody play
and put it out for all to see
what demise of tyrants can be.
