First off it was the quest for religious freedom which allowed us to attain public places. It was the oppressive tyranny of monarchs that drove our ancestors to new lands in search of basic, God-given rights, such as the right to worship and express faith without oppression or persecution. The moral standards of America are already in decline, take away religion and where do we go and how far down do we sink. Without a voice for integrity and moral standards where does America go? Our rights are way too fragile and important to our way of life, that to begin regulating such rights would be simple hypocrisy. Too much regulation is the problem; why make it worse by trying to regulate God? Insanity and greed endanger our way of life and the foundations upon which this nation was founded.
What will it take to bring America back to its humble origins? Another World War or another 9/11? For much too long we have tip-toed around those who are not aware of what this nation was founded upon or the rights we hold most dear. Why ban the very rights that this nation was founded upon. We have it on our money, which we spend freely {except for sales tax}, "In God We Trust" but how in the world can we say those words and steadily push the mention of his name from public places and out of the public forum. Meanwhile supporting the rights of the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. We wonder why our nation is in the shape it is in. Why aren't elected officials, and citizens alike, more concerned with issues that matter like the future of Social Security and the growing health care issue? What is to be accomplished by excluding the very ideas that make America what it is?
These stupid arguments are debated for the sole purpose of taking the attention off the important issues facing this great nation. Why don't we focus on the things that are bringing this country down instead of tearing away the very foundations this nation was founded upon. What does such a debate say about America and the path in which we are headed? Where are our morals? We need more faith and ethical based motivation, now more than ever. How can America even contemplate such ideology when religion and the freedom to exercise it, is one of the driving forces behind the Declaration of Independence and is a God-given right that is desired by millions in other countries around the globe. Let America remain the foremost example of freedom and God given rights, and do not diminish the values upon which this great nation, the United States of America, was founded upon. May God bless America and all her great people.
