I absolutely put more trust in God above and beyond everything. Trusting in God is the easy part. Listening to God and knowing his will is the toughest part.
I am one who presents everything to God in prayer before making many decisions, especially major decisions. I, like probaly most people had to learn this the difficult way. I would make many decisions without God. This led to leaving a perfectly good job for another job only to find the job would not work out. This led to making major purchases only to find myself in deeper finacial trouble. Since my many mistakes I have learned that during prayer we must also spend time listening. God does place the answer directly in our heart.
My decision to trust in God came with physical, mental and religious maturity. It has been a long road. For many this is not necessary. Jesus told his disciples that God already knows what our needs are. Jesus asked us to pray this way (instead of listing our needs), "Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" You cannot get any clearer than those instructions. We are to pray for the Father's Will in all matters and trust that he knows what is best for us.
Trust is probably the single biggest concept Jesus told us. Jesus first miracle was changing water into wine. Upon his Mother's request to turn water into wine Jesus said, "...it is not yet my time". Jesus demonstrated his trust in his Mother by creating that first miracle. Jesus also knew his Mother would never ask anything outside of the Will of God. Many people were healed because they trusted Jesus could heal them. The night before Jesus was to die for our sins, he placed all of his trust in God. Jesus cried out (with tears of blood), "Abba, my Father , if it is thy Will, please let this cup pass me by." I believe at that very moment Jesus knew his life on earth was about to end. That he was going to die for people that did not even care if he died. I think some sort of panic may have overcome him as he contemplated the horrible death he was about to undergo. He then for a split second, wished there was some other way. He instead put all of his trust in God. Jesus went to his death trusting he would rise again but perhaps more importantly trusting that his death would not be in vain.
We cannot get a better answer as to whom to put our trust in than from Jesus himself. If we can gleam only one concept from the bible, it should be to trust in Abba, our Father. Remember the trust is easy, the hearing and listening is our true challenge.
