The Sea
Waves rush in with a roar and a crash,
Then slide back, hissing along the hot sand.
Surge after surge comes the seawater,
Bringing with it a cool spray of salt.
The sun beats down on the sand
But the water is cold to the touch.
Far offshore a sailfish leaps.
Its scales catch the light,
Tossing brilliant, wet rainbows about.
Below it,
Far below where no light reaches
And the sun's warmth is not felt,
The water is like ice.
No sound of surf or gull can be heard.
There is only the calm, silent darkness.
Here there is little life,
Few beasts brave the darkness.
Returning to the surface,
Life begins again.
The sound of gulls fills the air,
And the beating of the surf on the sand begins again.
The slow, rhythmic beating,
Monotonous, yet melodious.
I look out on the vast blue expanse,
Imagine the life it holds,
And I smile.

Twilight approaches
Casting dull grey shadows
Upon the dull gray sand.

Basking in the coolness

Pulled by a helpful hand,
High above the clouds,
The deep, calm sea moves up the sand,
Not quiet, nor too loud,
A thousand memories
The Water's Burn
Into frothy, rabid clutches sink
flocks of steaming young and old in horror.
Too dark to see in those coal

ALONE AT SEA
Silent rows of angry waves
Slap against the bow.
With just the movement of the stars
To show time is passing now.
