The water gurgles and splashes
As it slides happily over the rocks,
Down from its birthplace in the mountains.
It gurgles on and on,
Down the mountains,
Under a canopy of trees.
Deer drink deeply of its coolness
And cubs frolic in its shallows,
Kicking up a spray of cool drops.
The river begins to rush forward,
Speeding, speeding as it rushes
White over rocks and boulders in its bed.
The river swells from the rain,
Picks up speed,
Going ever and always down, down
Down it drops,
Racing over the edge of a great waterfall.
As it spills, it glints sunlight,
Forming a curtain of glass beads.
The fall is over quickly,
The water roars and bursts as it smacks upon the waiting rocks.
Soon the river's anger calms
And it continues its gurgling journey,
Slowly over the rocks it flows.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!,
Thou has forsaken me,
with ravaged leaves and broken twigs,
