Manga reviews: Caf Latte Rhapsody

Created on: July 02, 2009

"Caf Latte Rhapsody" is perhaps one of the most interesting platonic romance dramas that I have ever read. While the story is a romance, it focuses more on a serious friendship in which the two do have feelings for each other as a result. Keep in mind that Caf Latte Rhapsody is a "yaoi" romance. If you are not into anime or manga, you may not know what yaoi means in the first place.

A yaoi pairing is a romantic pairing between two guys. In short, Caf Latte Rhapsody focuses on the platonic romance of two guys. In short, this is a manga that is friendly to the LGBT community. So far, there are plenty of mangas that are like Caf Latte Rhapsody. The way Caf Latte Rhapsody was done was very tasteful for the most part. There seems to be some subtle hint of elegance in the elements presented via Caf Latte Rhapsody.

Storyline: A

The storyline of Caf Latte Rhapsody is character driven rather than plot driven for the most part. It starts out by a chance meeting at a bookstore between Serizawa and Keito. So far, it becomes very interesting and intense. All of a sudden, it all changes. Serizawa sees that while Keito looks to be tall and intimidating, the man is quite shy as well.

Soon, Keito starts frequenting the bookstore more often. It turns into a strong and sweet friendship between Serizawa and Keito. It focuses on a friendship with two guys which romantic feelings towards each other.

Characters: A

It focuses on the two characters of Serizawa and Keito. Serizawa works at the bookstore when Keito comes in looking for a book. While the meeting is intense, the two of them get friendly later on. The two of them get to know each other better. As a result, the two of them become friends while developing romantic feelings for each other.

It is through the romantic friendship between Serizawa and Keito that makes Caf Latte Rhapsody very much character driven.

Illustrations: A

I did like the way the manga was illustrated. So far, it would seem the characters were given a feminine look. As a result, the guys can be classified as bishonens or "beautiful boys." So far, there is pretty much an interesting feminine charm. The illustrations are another reason that this manga can be pretty appealing. The drawings and inking were very well done for the most part.

Overall: A

Caf Latte Rhapsody is an interesting romantic friendship type of story. If you are into subtle romance stories, you may enjoy reading something like Caf Latte Rhapsody. For those part of the LGBT community, Caf Latte Rhapsody is something to check out. If you like romance stories in general, definitely read Caf Latte Rhapsody.
